St. Sava Academy is a preschool through eighth grade parochial school of Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, located on the northwest side of Chicago.
St. Sava Academy’s curriculum is aligned with the standards and guidelines of the Illinois State Board of Education. The Academy is also transitioning towards the Common Core State Standards Initiative.
As the first dual-language Serbian Orthodox school in the United States and Canada, we strive to provide a comprehensive educational opportunity, infused with a sense of community, to all of our students.
Orthodoxy (from Greek, orthos; Serbian право/pravo (“right”, “true”, “straight”) + doxa; славље/slavlje (“opinion” or “belief”, related to “to think”) is an adherence to an accepted creed.
St. Sava was a Serbian prince and Orthodox monk, the first Archbishop of the autocephalous Serbian Orthodox Church, the founder of Serbian law and literature and a diplomat.
