History
Of Our Academy
St Sava Academy was founded as an Orthodox Christian
partnership between Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral and
Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, both of Chicago, Illinois. St. Sava
Academy began five years ago as a result of this partnership and the
relocation of Holy Trinity's Socrates Greek School to the facilities
of Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral. We extend our gratitude
to the Holy Trinity Parish for this partnership which has enabled us
to establish our Academy. The partnership lasted for five years. We
extend our warmest wishes to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and
the Socrates School community for a successful future. St. Sava Academy
extends its gratitude for offering us the opportunity to begin our own
educational institution.
History was made on August 28, 2006, when St Sava Academy opened its
doors as a Serbian Orthodox parochial school. Students, parents, faculty
and clergy filled the school foyer with love, joy and excitement as
history was being made and the academic year was beginning. Forty students,
dressed in navy blue and white uniforms, lined up by grade with their
teachers as the clergy read prayers and blessed each student, parent
and staff member.
St Sava Academy is the first dual language Serbian
Orthodox parochial school for students ages 3 through 8th grade in the
United States and Canada.
