Administration

  • Marko Bojovic - Principal
    Marko Bojovic has been Principal of St. Sava Academy since 2006. Mr. Bojovic received his Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Master of Public Administration, both from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Always an advocate for the Serbian Orthodox Church and Serbian culture and people, Mr. Bojovic has approached his leadership role with ample enthusiasm and sincere concern for the success of his faculty, students and the Academy.  




Our Teachers

  • Svetlana Aleksic is the Kindergarten and 1st grade Serbian language subjects teacher. Svetlana received her Bachelor’s of Education Degree from the Dusan Jerkovic Teacher’s Academy in Serbia. Mrs. Aleksic has 17 years of teaching experience. Her students praise her daily concern and highest standards for their well-being and herald, “Mrs. Aleksic teaches us great stuff.”

  • Jelica Barjaktarevic is the 4th grade English language subjects teacher, a 6th grade English language subjects teacher and the Academy Computers teacher. Ms. Barjaktarevic received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, with a minor in Social Studies, from Carol College (University) in Wisconsin. Jelica has a total of 5 years of teaching experience, in various educational settings. This is Ms. Barjaktarevic’s first year at St. Sava Academy. Ms. Jelica always sets high expectations for her students and she is able to assist her students in achieving these expectations.
  • Ljiljana Burza is the 2nd - 6th grade Serbian language subjects teacher. Ljiljana received her Bachelor’s of Education Degree from the University of Belgrade in Serbia. Mrs. Burza has 23 years of teaching experience. Along with exhibiting expertise in her subject matter, Mrs. Burza grounds her teaching philosophy on positive reinforcement and the belief that everyone can learn.

  • Simana Filskov is the Preschool English subject’s teacher and a 6th grade English subjects teacher. Simana received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and her Bachelor’s of Criminal Justice from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. Likewise, Simana is currently working on her Master of Arts in Secondary Education. Mrs. Filskov has 14 years of teaching experience. Her creativity and project-based approach to learning is very well-received by all students.

  • Marko Kalic is the Academy Physical Education instructor. Currently, Marko is completing his Physical Education studies at Triton College. Mr. Kalic has been with the Academy for 2 years. Marko Kalic has several years of experience teaching children. The students of St. Sava Academy love Cika Marko’s creativity and they look forward to gym class every week.

  • Jelena Krsmanovic is the Preschool Serbian language subjects teacher and a Preschool Assistant. Jelena received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Kragujevac and the Jagodina Teacher’s College in Serbia. Ms. Jelena’s special love for her students is greatly appreciated by the preschool parents . This is Ms. Krsmanovic’s first year with St. Sava Academy.

  • Natalie Nikolic is the 2nd and 3rd grade English subjects teacher and a Preschool Teaching Assistant. Natalie received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Loyola University Chicago. Likewise, Natalie received her Master of Arts in Teaching from National-Louis University. This is Mrs. Nikolic’s second year at St. Sava Academy.

  • Stana Radunovic is the Cathedral and Academy Administrative Assistant and a Preschool Teaching Assistant. Stana received her Bachelor of Art’s Degree in Political Science, with a minor in Social Work. This is Stana’s first year at St. Sava Academy.


  • Suzana Stephens is the Kindergarten and 1st grade English subjects teacher. Suzana received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Bradley University. This is Mrs. Stephens’s first year at St. Sava Academy. Suzana has a total of 4 years of teaching experience.

  • Popadija Jelena Vranic is the Academy Music teacher. Popadija Jelena completed the Josip Slavenski School of Music and the University of Arts programs, both in Belgrade, Serbia. Likewise, Popadija Vranic has taught at the University of Kragujevac in Serbia. In total, Popadija Jelena has 8 years of teaching experience. The students of St. Sava Academy are delighted to experience Popadija Vranic’s wonderful musical talents. This is Popadija Jelena’s first year at St. Sava Academy.




Our Staff

  • Petra Milosavljevic is the Academy Chef. Teta Petra has been with St. Sava Academy since 2001 when the school was called Socrates-St. Sava Academy. The students of St. Sava Academy love all of Teta Petra’s food, however their favorite is her macaroni.

  • Mladen Vukovic is the Cathedral Caretaker. You will always see Cika Mladen throughout the Cathedral/Academy campus. Cika Mladen has been with Holy Resurrection Cathedral and St. Sava Academy for a total of 7 years.




Clergy  

  • Fr. Darko Spasojevic is the Cathedral Dean of Holy Resurrection Cathedral. Fr. Darko teaches religion to the 2nd and 3rd graders and also serves Academy church services and prayers. Likewise, Fr. Darko is one of our Academy Spiritual Advisors. Fr. Darko has taught for 4 years at St. Sava Academy.

  • Fr. Radovan Jakovljevic is the parish priest for the Southern Parish of Holy Resurrection Cathedral. Fr. Radovan teaches religion to the 4th and 6th graders and also serves various Academy church services and prayers. Likewise, Fr. Radovan is one of our Academy Spiritual Advisors. Fr. Radovan has been with the Academy for 2 years.

  • Fr. Vasilije Vranic is the parish priest for the Northern Parish of Holy Resurrection Cathedral. Fr. Vasilije teaches religion to the Kindergarteners and also serves Academy church services and prayers. Likewise, Fr. Vasilije is one of our Academy Spiritual Advisors. Fr. Vasilije has been with the Academy for 1 year.

  • Deacon Damjan S. Bozic is the Cathedral Deacon of Holy Resurrection. Deacon Damjan teaches religion to the 1st graders. Deacon Damjan has taught for 4 years at St. Sava Academy.
